Turkish Celeriac Salad Recipe: Kereviz Salatası

How to Make Celeriac Salad

Serves 4-6


  • 1 large celeriac (about 1 ½ pounds)
  • 1 lemon, cut in half
  • ½ cup grated carrots
  • ¼ cup coarsely chopped fresh Italian parsley leaves
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 medium tomatoes, quartered,
  • Mixed salad greens


Peel the celeriac and cut off the ends. Cut the celeriac in half. Scrape out the soft pulp in the middle and discard it. Rub the celeriac all over with the cut lemon. Cut it into julienne strips and place them in a bowl. Add the carrots, parsley, cumin, mayonnaise, and lemon juice. Season with salt and pepper and toss well. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. Garnish with tomatoes and serve chilled on a bed of leafy salad greens.
